Two Goat Breeding Centers are maintained by the Department of Animal Production and Health at Thelahera (Kobeigane AGA division) in Kurunegala district and Imbulandanda (Matale AGA division) in Matale district.

Progeny of Jamunapari goats imported from India are available in these two farms. These goats are bred with imported Jamunapari goat semen as well as using selected Jamunapari stud goats. The main objective of running these two breeding farms is to maintain goat nucleous herd and produce breeding goats that are needed to be issued to the field.
